Update Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop G800FXXU1BOK7

Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini has received a brand new official Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update and you can use this tutorial in order to learn how to successfully.If you do not want to wait until the official firmware update arrives over-the-air for your Galaxy S5 Mini phone, then you can manually flash it using the Odin tool. These updates are being rolled out in stages, which means that not all world’s regions are getting the files at the same time.

Before starting the installation, then you should check some guidelines that will help you setup the phone in order to make sure that the update will be completed at the first attempt.

The manual installation guide requires you to be an advanced user, as there are tons of steps that you need to take in order to be sure that you won’t brick the device. Read carefully the entire tutorial first and make sure not to skip any steps.


Preparation Steps:

Use this post only for the International Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini smartphones.

The model number of your device has to be SM – G800F.

Check the model of your phone under Settings> About Phone section.

Do not attempt to update any other devices that you will find in this post.

Download Samsung USB Drivers from here and install them on your computer.

The Odin3 is the application that you will have to use in order to complete the update.

For Odin to run on your device you will need to disable the Samsung KIES from running on your computer. Also, disable any antivirus app from running on your computer.

If your device is rooted, then root access will be lost in the process.

If there is any custom Recovery installed on it, then you will have it replaced with a stock Samsung Recovery image

You can install the update over a custom ROM, too. After you complete the installation you will be forced to ‘factory reset’ the device. The ‘factory reset’ process wipes clean the system partition, as it has to remove the old ROM and allow the new official firmware to boot in normal mode.Factory Resetting the device won’t remove any files from internal storage.If you’re unsure about the ‘factory reset’ process, then you should backup all the important files before starting the Android 5.1.1 flashing process.If your device is running 100% stock firmware, then you won’t be forced to factory reset it.Use the tutorial only if you are an advanced user, we cannot be blamed in case you brick the phone nor in case you lose any important files.Read the whole tutorial and do not skip any steps in case you wish to complete the update at your first attempt.Check the battery charge level of your device, make sure that it is over 50%, so that you won’t end up losing any data files in the process.


How to flash Android 5.1.1 G800FXXU1BOK7 Lollipop Update for Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini:
    Download G800FXXU1BOK7 Android 5.1.1 zip from here
    Extract the archived firmware contents and save the files on your PC.You will obtain the G800FXXU1BOK7 tar.md5 firmware file.
    Download Odin3 v3.10.6 zip from here.– extract the Odin files on your PC.
    Power off the phone.
    Launch Odin exe on your computer
    Connect your device to your computer using USB Cable. – wait for Odin to detect the device. – if the device isn’t detected you need to reinstall the USB Drivers once again

If the ODIN app shows the FAIL alert, or your phone gets stuck during installation or it shows any other error, then you will be forced to repeat the whole tutorial more than once.

If you repeat installation, then you will need to make sure that your phone meets all requirements and that you won’t be skipping any steps listed above.

If ODIN shows the PASS alert, but is unable to go past the boot animation screen or it enters in a boot loop, then you will need to factory reset the phone

The ‘factory reset’ steps listed below should be followed by those that have installed the update over a custom ROM, too.

Here’s how to ‘factory reset’ the device: power it off, boot it in Recovery Mode and select ‘wipe data/ factory reset’. Confirm process. Reboot your phone in normal mode after the factory reset is complete.
