On the day before the start of the fair Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, Samsung unveiled its latest flagship - Galaxy smartphones S7 and S7 edge. We had the opportunity while their after use, so we can give you our first impressions.
Look
At first glance, the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge look almost like their predecessors - models S6 and S6 edge, rather S6 edge +. Instead of the three models in the seventh version of the Galaxy S, we have two versions available - Galaxy S7 with a screen diagonal of 5.1 and S7 edge with a larger screen 5.5 "- both with a resolution of QHD (1440 to 2560 pixels). In S6 base model also had a screen of 5.1 ", but editing with curved sides screen TV was available in two versions: a smaller, also with a screen 5.1" and larger, S6 edge +, with a screen 5.7 "- as in mobile business Galaxy Note 4. Apparently, Samsung, however, concluded that the breaking edge version of the two models was not the best idea, so S7 edge will only be available with one type of screen. We do not expect that in the future there was variety S7 edge with a larger screen.
Design of new smartphone Samsung is very similar to the previous edition and some details can be seen only directly compared with each S6 and S7 (thinner frame in S7, slightly more "square" the Home button in S7). The biggest visual difference is much more hidden lens main camera on the back of the phone. In S6 clearly protruded, what was the reason for the complaints of many users. In S7 extends only to 0.46 mm. And it's probably the only item, where you can quickly recognize that we are dealing with S7 and S6 not. Phones differently (better) in the hand. The screen though slightly protrudes and has rounded edges that smoothly pass the frame around the screen. This is easily seen if we will go across the screen, and we go down with him on the edge of the phone. In S6 feel clear boundary between the screen and the casing of the phone. In S7 finger smoothly moves to the housing. Rounded edges of the Galaxy S7 make the phone much better arranged in the hand and not "cuts into" the edges in the interior (maybe the "digging into" a little overkill, but we possibly vividly convey to you the differences in the touching between S6 and S7 - we are not this can show the pictures
Technical Specifications
As for components, the new Samsung equipped with a processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 or Exynos 8890, depending on market (perhaps to Polish will go both versions, as was the case eg. In the case of Galaxy Note 4). According to the declaration Samsung processor model S7 is 30% faster than that of the S6. Layout (GPU) is reportedly approx. 60% faster. Do so, we'll see if we can get the Galaxy S7 to rent tests.
Galaxy S7 and S7 edge have increased working memory up to 4 GB and is available in two versions - with 32 or 64 GB of memory for data. However, Samsung has improved a bug that made the occasion S6, which deprived the possibility of installing a memory card. In S7 again, you can install a microSD card to expand the memory to your phone (for the moment even 200 GB cards, the future probably ever bigger). Card slot microSD found himself in the same tray, which is inserted into a nano SIM card. S7 and model edge are also waterproof - like the Galaxy S5 (S6 was not waterproof). They meet the specifications of IP68, which can be immersed to a depth of 1.5 meters for 30 minutes. It is noteworthy that, unlike the Galaxy S5, S7 Galaxy has no cover flap USB port. This port can also be wet. By the way - S7 is still the old jack, USB type B Samsung decided not to use more modern USB socket type C. Apparently, due to compatibility with existing accessories, not really going to care kit owned chargers or cables.
Camera
Samsung Galaxy S7 also has a new camera with a 12 megapixel sensor and a lens with F1.7 brightness (S6 had a camera 16 megapixels and F1.9 lens). Do not be fooled by a smaller number of megapixels - every pixel sensor OPC is much larger, it has a width of 1.4 micron (1.12 micron in the Galaxy S6), which is able to capture much more light. Adding to this is clearly brighter lens with F1.7 brightness, we get a camera that perfectly cope in bad lighting conditions. Compared cameras S6 and S7, S7 and model performs much better pictures, more saturated colors and with less noise. Additionally, the camera instantly catches the focus, even when it is dark. Galaxy S7 once again raises the bar for digital cameras installed in the phone ... and increasingly makes traditional digital cameras will not need the typical usersAnother new feature in the Galaxy S7 mode is Always On Display, which is "always on the screen." Using the fact that the Galaxy S7 has a AMOLED screen that lights only selected pixels (and does not illuminate the entire screen, as in the case of LCD), Samsung's engineers have added a function to display a watch or a calendar bright scribbles on a black background. Such information may be displayed at all times on the screen, and battery consumption is reportedly less than 1 percent per hour. No more turning on the phone just to check the time.
Samsung Galaxy S7 has a battery capacity of 3000 mAh, model S7 edge - 3600 mAh. According to Samsung phones will watch HD movies for up to 15 hours.
The new phones will go on sale in mid-March.
