Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow Update for Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Now Rolling out in South Korea

On Sunday, Samsung unveiled its flagships for the year, the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge. The media covered them intensively and now it’s time for a change of pace. According to Sammobile, the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update for Galaxy Note 5 is now rolling out. Initially, the report was about the new firmware update rolling out at South Korean carrier LG Uplus. In the meantime, the publication that has a straight record when it comes reporting about Samsung products updated the post saying that the new firmware is also rolling out at SK Telecom.

As the norm is with software updates, the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update is being pushed to users in stages, meaning it would take a while until it reaches everyone. When the servers push the OTA update to your phone a message should appear in the notifications panel letting you know that a firmware update is pending. Tap on, choose ‘Download now’, wait until the download is completed, then select ‘Install now’. Your phone should now reboot and flash the new firmware automatically. In case you can’t see the system update notification, you can check for it manually under Settings > About phone > System updates > Check for system updates.

Since Android 6.0.1 is an incremental update, the firmware file might have a size of over 1 GB. We are recommending you to download it using a WiFi connection to avoid unwanted data charging. Also, make sure that you have enough battery left so your phone won’t turn off during the installation.

As you may know, Marshmallow it’s a major update, so expect changes and new features. It comes with improved security and privacy courtesy of the new granular app permissions system, Google Now On Tap for relevant information about the content on your screen, Doze Mode for improved battery life when the phone is in standby, native fingerprint reader support, Chrome custom tabs, Direct Share, a new Share menu, the ability to use SD cards as default storage, automatic app data backup, improved Do Not Disturb Mode, tweaked Storage Manager, new RAM manager, and many more.
